During the weekend of March 22 – 24, 2019, Nazareth Retreat Center hosted a retreat for a group called Young Adult Franciscan Ministry. Their retreat was titled Glow in the Dark and was attended by around 20 college students and young adults. It was led by a team of Franciscan Friars from Mt. St. Francis and some of their associates. The weekend consisted of meditation on the Motherhouse lawn, several opportunities to learn about Mother Catherine Spalding, song-singing, Eucharistic adoration, and Mass with a healing service. The Franciscans also gave several talks about the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi and how you can allow the light of your faith to shine even in the darkest moments of life. Luckily, the weather was warm and sunny the entire weekend and retreatants had ample time to explore the beautiful grounds of Nazareth together.
At the end of the weekend, it was felt that the retreat was a big success. Retreatants commented that they felt refreshed and energized, enjoyed their lodgings, and loved the tasty meals in the Motherhouse dining room. Overall, they were most impressed with the beauty of Nazareth’s grounds and how hospitable and welcoming the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth that they talked to were. They have made plans to return next year and are already looking forward to visiting again.
