one year ago today, my friend emily died in a car accident while serving in the peace corps in paraguay.

the loss of several friends throughout the years has been painful and confusing, but one thing that i know is that so much good has come from these untimely deaths. i have seen so much generosity and kindness from people who are inspired by women like emily. i have seen friendships formed and strengthened. we have been so lucky to have each other.

so, today, on #givingtuesday, i ask you to think about looking beyond yourself. be kind. give to an organization you believe in. hug you friends. tell your family you love them. do this in memory of the people in your life that you have lost. do this because we all need a little love, kindness and giving.
