Those in discernment, We are asking Holy Spirit to pour abundant graces on all of you. Reply Dorothy MacDougall on May 30, 2018 at 1:41 pm It was suggested that we read the Indian Bishops’ “Gender Policy of the Catholic Church: Empowerment of Women in the Church and Society.” Since the Indian Bishops’ policy was adopted almost nine years ago, a question that might open dialogue between SCNs and the Indian institutional Church is: “What elements of the Gender Policy have been successfully implemented?” A further question might be: “How are you continuing to work on the implementation of other parts of the policy, and how can we help? SCNs from the other four countries where we serve might ask their Bishops for a copy of their Gender Policy and inquire about its implementation. In any case, SCNs would need to be ready to help the Catholic Church get beyond its silence when injustices regarding women are evident in any country where we serve.
