The Executive Committee meetings continued today. Present for the meetings: SCNs Mary Elizabeth Miller, Susan Gatz, Sangeeta Ayithamattam and Judy Raley. Members of the Extended Executive Council, Vice Provincials Basanti Lakra, Brenda Gonzales, Reena Theruvankunnel, and Adeline Fehribach were also present for conversation and discussion.
Teresa Kotturan, SCN, joined the meeting via Skype from Patna, India.
The morning began as Sister Brenda led those present in prayer. She reflected upon migration and the journey of hope and encouraged others to recall how their lives had been touched by migrants and refugees. This time of sharing was very powerful and touching.
Energizing discussions followed around a number of issues including how the Congregation is living out the General Directives as well as updates in the areas of Integration, Global Exchange, and Record Retention.
In the afternoon, the group engaged in a rich conversation concerning leadership development across the Congregation. Those present brainstormed ways in which we might identify future leaders, help them realize their gifts, and encourage them to be active on boards and committees. Sister Mary Elizabeth spoke about the desire to help others see that leadership is itself a vital ministry. Calendars for prayer and upcoming meetings were shared. The group also proposed key issues that might merit further discussion and planning during future EC and EEC meetings.
The day came to a close with sharing on the value of having the Vice Provincials present for this week’s meetings. Sister Judy pointed out that one of the goals in the Western Province is to address opportunities for leadership and mentoring. She reflected that this is just such an opportunity and having the Vice Provincials present allows for mentoring, leadership development, and a sharing of information. Vice Provincials are present, but voting on any decisions is left to members of the Executive Committee only. To view photos of EC and EEC, please click on the following link:
