As the rain poured down on the parched land of Musunuru, Environment Day was celebrated by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, along with the staff of Preranalaya Social Development Center (PSDC) on June 27, 2018.

The center had grown15 saplings from the Almond trees from Preranalaya campus. A rally was undertaken from PSDC carrying the plants in a cart, singing songs and raising slogans all along the way. The rally marched around in the village of Musunuru. As the rally moved, more people joined the procession. 15 families with some land came forward to plant the saplings in their campuses. The plants were planted immediately and staff of Preranalaya will continue their visits to those families.

What is significant about the almond tree is that it grows very fast, gives shade and almonds within 2 years. As the children suffer from malnutrition and anemia this is an effort by the SCNs to improve the health condition of the children. Seeing the demand from the locals for these plants, Preranalaya has planned to set up a nursery in the coming year. We also maintain the campus green and plastic free.
