As SCNs move toward the goal of becoming carbon free, we are adding Electric Vehicles (EVs) to our car fleet. An Electric Vehicle charging station has been installed on campus. Earlier this week, we hosted an Electric Vehicle “Ride and Drive” event. SCNs collaborated with EVolve KY (a non-profit that promotes EVs and charging stations in Kentucky) to put on this event which was open to Sisters and the public. Many turned out to hear presentations given in the Mary Madeline Room at Nazareth from Director of Ecological Sustainability Carolyn Cromer and from the volunteers with Evolve KY. Following the presentation, attendees were able to check out several EVs in the O’Connell Hall parking lot, taking rides and even driving the vehicles. Molly Thompson, SCN, was also present. Sister Molly recently began driving an all-electric vehicle and has really enjoyed learning about the car. She says reading the car manual has become an enjoyable nightly read! Though she mostly takes short trips she has driven the EV as far as Elizabethtown, KY and Lexington, KY.
