On behalf of the Congregation, Philomena Kottoor, SCN, provincial, accepted eight pre-novices, Alma Xaxa, Asha Bage, Asrita Lugun, Neetu Hembrom, Priya Asrita Marandi, Promila Kisku, Saroj Kumari and Swati Kujur into the two-year novitiate program during a blessing prayer at the convent chapel in Mokama on May 5, 2018. Living in community, they have seen and learned the SCN way of life, the Charism, and experienced God’s personal love and call. They also have been involved in various ministries and closely shared our joys and challenges.
Anice Vattukulam, SCN, the pre-novice director thanked the Sisters for their support, interest, and care in forming the young members, especially the formators, PLTs and board members. She introduced the pre-novices and Sister Philomena called each one by their name and they, in turn, responded saying, “Yes, Lord, here I am.” Sister Philomena invited them to a time of formation that will prepare them to follow God in a vowed way of life in the SCN Congregation.
In entering the novitiate program the novices pledged themselves to follow Jesus and to live the Gospel way of life in community and mission in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, our founders, Bishop David and Mother Catherine. The new novices were welcomed with arati, tikka and flowers. They were presented with a chain, book of SCN Constitutions and the community prayer book. All campus Sisters were present for the prayer service and lunch.
