SCN ministry Doors to Hope received a grant award yesterday from the Louisville Youth Philanthropy Council (LYPC). The LYPC seeks to educate youth about philanthropy, inspiring them through hands-on experiences to become community leaders. The LYPC gives teenagers the opportunity to learn how to run a non-profit philanthropic foundation – and then helps them to put what they learn into practice by making grants in the Louisville, Kentucky area. Doors to Hope received a $5000 grant.
The teens in LYPC each identify a philanthropic mission. They do research, interview organizations with programs that fulfill that mission, make site visits, and ultimately decide how to distribute $5,000 in grant money. Grant awards are presented by the Council members to the selected organizations at a dinner banquet in March of each year.
Representatives of the Doors to Hope family attended last night’s banquet where they received the grant. Doors to Hope opens learning opportunities, encourages community involvement, and engages in advocacy for women and immigrant families in the greater Louisville area.
