Sixty-three Mokama children received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Most Rev. William D’ Souza, SJ, the Archbishop of Patna on November 25, 2012.  The children processed into the Church with an entrance dance by the SCN Candidates.

Jane Karakunnel, SCN, Appolina Kujur and Mary Victoria, members of Disciples of Jesus prepared these children at the Parish and in few villages.  The children chose two of the parishioners as their God parents.

The Archbishop in his homily invited the children and their family members to open up to receive the fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.  He said it is the best way to bear witness to their faith in the Year of the Family.

The Prelate asked the parents to set apart a specific time for personal and family prayer and for reading the Word of God.  He said, “Let the Word of God fill every corner of your house so that the devil will have no place to hide and disturb the peace of the family”.

He said that the parents are the first teachers of children so lead them to God through prayer and Word of God.  He asked the parents to become salt of the earth by being an instrument of God’s grace for others.

It was very encouraging to see the interest and enthusiasm of the children and their parents in the preparation and reception of this Sacrament that make them mature in their Christian faith.  Indeed the Christian community in Mokama, though small in numbers is vibrant in living and witnessing to their faith in Jesus Christ.
