Nazareth employees celebrated the Christmas season in the Motherhouse Dining Room using compostable plates, utensils, and cups. The cups and utensils are made of corn and will biodegrade when put in a compost pile. The plates are made of 100% recycled paper and were also headed for the campus compost pile.

This effort is part of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s commitment to move towards the elimination of single-use plastic, one of the General Assembly directives which call Sisters to “intensify efforts across the Congregation to address the destruction of natural resources and the ecological and environmental crisis.”
