Child protection awareness program at Sangsay

St. Dominic School, Sangsay, organized a child protection awareness program for the students, teachers and the parents on Nov.17, 2016. The resource persons were Sister Elisha, SJC and the Kalimpong ‘Child Help Line’ (CHL) team. Around 108 parents, fifteen teachers and the 180 students from Class I – X attended the program. Through PowerPoint and videos, CHL team presented to the group laws regarding child rights, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, (POCSO) and child development. Through the recent happenings and examples, the team highlighted the various types of child abuses prevalent in the society and in homes, especially the unsafe touch. The team emphasized on the importance of protecting themselves and their children and how to do it. Many parents were appreciative of this program. At the end of the program, the team celebrated the CHL friendship by putting the CHL friendship band on each other. View more photos.
