Charity Alive is a group for young men and women, between the ages of 18 and 35, whose mission is to build and maintain a relationship with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. The group meets for fellowship and service work throughout the year. They also meet with the sisters for prayer on their Nazareth, Ky., campus.

Charity Alive loves to serve others. Members and candidates of the group worked together to cook for cancer patients or people who have lost loved ones to the disease, at Gilda’s Club.

Sister Luke Boiarski: An Interview

In her senior year of high school, the class took a trip to Nazareth. All Sister Luke could say about this trip was that “Nazareth spoke to me”. She entered the SCN novitiate on September 8, 1966, having just turned eighteen three days before. Her Dad, Al, said, “Please stay at least two weeks to give it a try because it is too far to come back to Kentucky within a week.”

This weekend, the young adults participating in the Charity Alive gathering brought a renewed spirit to the Nazareth campus.

Several members of Charity Alive spent the weekend at Nazareth for their biannual meeting. They enjoyed their accommodations in the Volunteer House where they gathered for prayer, planning, and support. Their service project of choice was decorating several Christmas trees in Carrico Hall and preparing the courtyard for outside decorations.

Sisters provide school supplies

Sisters provide school supplies

A request from Charity Alive member Andreiona Williams went out to SCNs in the Nazareth and Louisville areas for school supplies and backpacks for children in the West End of Louisville in collaboration with Emmanuel Baptist Church. The response was overwhelming with $1160 in money and supplies that were able to fill over 120 backpacks and then extra supplies to fill more bags!
