April 9, 2018 was a historical day for SCNs in Barauni, as St. Joseph’s School turned a new leaf in its journey.  The new academic year began with a change in the medium of instruction and leadership.  Rev. Father Kevin Charles took over the helm of the school in the presence of Most Rev. Bishop Cajetan Francis Osta, the Bishop of Muzaffarpur and Philomena Kottoor, SCN, Provincial of Patna Province and a few other priests, SCNs and the newly joined staff.

For the last few years, SCN leadership has been in touch with the Bishop with regard to bringing about the new direction to the education ministry in Barauni.  After much consultation, it was decided that the Diocese will take charge of running the school in English medium and the SCNs will be in a supportive role.  Accordingly, it was decided to hand over the school responsibility to the Diocese on April 9, 2018.

During a beautifully conducted prayer service by Prisca Bilung, SCN, Sister Philomena handed over the keys of the school office to the Bishop Cajetan who in turn called upon Father Kevin to take charge of the school.  Father Sanjay Takur, diocesan education director, Father Selva Raj, parish priest cum secretary to the school, SCNs Priya Kalapurayil, province education coordinator and Sarala Anithottathil, as well as the newly appointed staff, witnessed this function.  Songs, flowers and congratulatory wishes, distribution of sweets, etc. added joy to the occasion.  The conclusion was with a sumptuous meal provided by the parish for all.
