Twenty-four women received certificates on June 28, for completion of the skills and empowerment training of six months. They were from four districts of Nepal. Trainees put up a beautiful program with drama, dances, group songs, presentation of report and sharing of success stories by ex-trainees who are earning their livelihood. On this occasion, the newly elected mayor and deputy mayor of Birendranagar Municipality, chairman, four members of Ward No. 9, and elected 9 ward members who are part of Navjyoti Program were honored with a shawl, garland, and red tika.

Twenty-six students from 10 child clubs who passed class 10 exam were also honored. All the speakers praised the activities of Navjyoti Center. The chief guest, the newly elected mayor stated that Navjyoti has been doing what the government has failed to do and he is willing to pour oil in the lamp that is lit by Navjyoti Center for the people of Surkhet. He also mentioned that this is a school where local administration has acquired new learning and the entire Navjyoti team needs to be garlanded for their exemplary work. Deputy Mayor spoke of the various schemes planned for women and her commitment to work in co-ordination with Navjyoti Center for the empowerment of women. Local radios and newspapers had given good coverage of the function.
