In Nepal, in spite of the biting cold and windy conditions, 29 children came to get help with their homework, especially in math and english, from the evening village non-formal center on January 4, 2018 in Lauki. The center is a ministry of the SCNs, and these sessions are regularly hosted. The children gather and sit on a plastic mat in the open courtyard in one of the houses. Some of the parents also come around to observe the classes. Many of the parents are illiterate and it is difficult for them to help with homework.
Seeing that a large number of children were not enrolled in any school, a non-formal center was started near Navjyoti in 2016. Whenever Reema Tigga, SCN, visits the center, english and math classes take place along with games and fun songs. The children look forward to the visit from SCNs as the Sisters often bring sweets or snacks to encourage the children to attend classes regularly.
