Celebrating Republic day for a social cause

The 68th Republic Day of India was celebrated at Nazareth School with patriotic zeal and fervor. This day was marked with the undertaking of Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan (Clean India Movement). The day began with the hoisting of the Indian flag by Mr.Kantharaju, Vice President, Parent Teacher Association (PTA), followed by the National Anthem. The entire school courtyard reverberated with brilliant cultural performances. The Republic Day program concluded with a very inspiring speech given by the Chief Guest who appealed to the students to make use of education to build the nation.

A cleanliness drive as part of Swatch Bharath Abhiyaan was organized. PTA members, teachers and the students from grades VIII – IX walked from the school to the National Highway and to the neighboring village equipped with brooms to ensure that every nook and corner of the village was spic and span.
The purpose of this drive was to create awareness among the students and thereby motivate the people around to keep the surrounding clean. Mr. Somshekhar, a PTA member, generously offered delicious lunch to all the participants.
