“Bring it to the floor!” was the mantra used at the Louisville, Kentucky, rally against gun violence.
Sisters of Charity of Nazareth were in attendance and others prayed in support as U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan and Moms Demand Action led a caravan through Dayton, Ohio, to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s hometown to demand action on comprehensive gun reform legislation.
The hope is to bring bipartisan supported background gun check legislation to the floor of the U.S. Senate.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth have taken a stance that the most recent gun violence reaffirms that America has a gun violence epidemic with many areas of it needing to be addressed. They stand with many who grieve the many deaths, pray with these families, and work to support policies to reduce death and injury from gun violence.
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth call on elected leaders to take up legislation that:
- requires universal background checks for all gun sales,
- bans assault weapons,
- provides funding for gun violence prevention research, and
- makes the trafficking in weapons a federal crime.

Sisters, well done God is your strength you are the voice of the voiceless. With Jesus Christ and his Mother Mary we shall succeed .
Funny how people use the term “communist” for those sticking up for the vulnerable. Dorothy Day was called a “communist” and now they want to make her a saint. Where’s your heart and mind at?
I think it’s really commendable that the nuns are getting out and standing up for protecting the innocent.
May there at last be good that can come out of so many tragedies. Thank you for being part of the voice for reasonable change.
Right on my sisters!
Luke
We stand together!!!
Power to the People!!!!
Let the church say AMEN! Great job and thank you for being there.
Speak up dear Sisters, young or old. Time will not wait, issues are life threatening. Joel
Soon I will be an SCNA . It is so heart warming to see our sisters in action speaking up for those distressed in our country. Thank you so much for your effort.
Way to go Sisters! I hope and pray this will help motivate the Senate into action . . . finally.
