The Bicentennial of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and St. Vincent Health System Heritage Day were celebrated at St. Vincent Health System in Little Rock on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. The celebration began in St.. Vincent Chapel with a prayer service at 10:00AM, moved to St. Vincent North at 12:15PM and then on to St. Vincent Morrilton for a 3:00PM celebration. SCNs Margaret Meisner and Judy Raley, along with Sister Susan Evelyn RSM, VP for Mission Integration, were key participants in all three services.
At each hospital facility Judy gave a reflection relating to the history and journey of the SCN Com-munity. After the reflection, in memory of the SCN Bicentennial, Judy presented the wood cutting of Nazareth to the CEO of each facility.
The annual Heritage Day program is to present awards in memory of and in honor of Sister Margaret Vincent Blandford and Sister Teresa Babcock who both contributed, in their individual way, to the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the healing ministry of Jesus Christ at St Vincent ‘s. There is one employee from the Health System, chosen from various nominations of managers, who receives the Sister Margaret Vincent Blandford System Leadership Award. There are four Sister Teresa Joseph Babcock Service Excellence Awards also chosen from a slate of nominees from the three hospital facilities and those serving in numerous health clinics.
Following each program came the unveiling of the name plate of each winner that is placed on a special
Plaque in each facility. Refreshments of cake and punch were served to visitors as well as employees. In honor of the SCN Bicentennial Margaret had the image of the painting of Mother Catherine and St. Vincent de Paul placed on the main sheet cake in each facility. The original paintings were done by Marie Becker S.C.N. The same images were used on the invitations that went out to all employees of St. Vincent Health System.
