Bangalore Province Opens a New Mission
Kallanode in Kozhikode, Kerala, is a very small village about 50 km away from Anakkampoil. A small plot of land was purchased along with an old house eight months ago. After renovation, the convent was blessed on Dec. 17, 2014 by Rt. Rev. Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil, Bishop of Thamarassery Diocese.
For the auspicious day, 17 Sisters arrived from far and near. More than one hundred people from the neighborhood gathered to celebrate the presence of SCNs in Kallanode. Sisters felt privileged to have Vice-President Sangeeta Ayithamattam, SCN, and our former President Mary Elizabeth Miller, SCN, in attendance.
The day was organized with the assistance of Father Francis Puthiyedath, Parish Priest of Kallanode, Sacred Heart Sisters, St. Aloysius Sisters, SCNs from Anakkampoil and parishioners. Bishop Remigiose along with other priests celebrated the Holy Eucharist on the new altar which was blessed in a ritual of anointing. The Bishop in his homily thanked the Sisters for coming to Kallanod to spread God’s love, peace and joy. He told those gathered that he had invited the Sisters to Kallanode to offer health care services, as that was the need of the people of the area.
Ann Palatty, SCN, provincial of Bangalore Province, in her message of gratitude thanked the Bishop, priests, religious, the construction team, and the parishioners of Kallanod. The support of the locals was huge and this was a day filled with joy and blessings for SCNs and the people of Kallanod.
