The SCN Lay Mission Volunteer Program recently traveled to Beattyville, Kentucky in Appalachia to assist Ms. Dora Ross in preparing for her annual Christmas community outreach program. In the upcoming weeks, hundreds of families from the surrounding area will visit Kentucky Cornerstone Ministries to receive coats, gloves, hats and gifts for their children. The volunteers were able to help Ms. Dora complete her Christmas decorating both inside and out, to ensure each family will be greeted by the joyful spirit of Christmas as soon as they arrive. Ms. Dora also has a food pantry and thrift shop located in her basement which allows her to distribute items to meet the needs of the locals throughout the year.

How do you get in touch with Ms. Dora to offer assistance for the 2016 Christmas season?
It is always a signal for hope to my heart to hear of the fine outreach of the SCN Volunteers. It would be just what Mother Catherine would do and did do in their time as our models and inspiration. Thanks for keeping SCN spirit alive in Appalachia!
