We offer this prayer service as we commemorate the anniversary of the March 20 death of our dear Mother Catherine Spalding.

Mother Catherine was a woman of her time. As she moved through her daily life, she encountered God wherever she experienced people in need and in all of creation. May she inspire us as we face the challenges of our day.

“As we move toward the future in the pioneer spirit of Catherine Spalding, our lives are simple and free for our trust is in Providence.” These words of our Constitutions remind us, Sisters and Associates, of her guidance in our day-to-day life. We are grateful to God for her faith and for the support we have in one another.

Take some time to experience Catherine’s Louisville. Catherine’s Louisville is a walking tour highlighting the sites of Mother Catherine’s missions and residences in Louisville, Kentucky. Based on her book, “Pioneer Spirit,” the late Mary Ellen Doyle, SCN, created this walking tour in order to inspire those interested in Mother Catherine’s life. Sister Mary Ellen felt that actually walking in her footsteps would provide a unique and memorable learning experience.
