Let us be mindful that we are truly people of the Promise…
Jer. 33:14-16; Ps. 25:4-5, 8-10, 14; I Thes. 3:12, 4:2; Lk. 21:25-28, 34-36
“May Christ increase to overflowing your love for one another and for all people, even as our love does for you.” 1 Thes. 3:12
There is stillness in the wintry Advent season. The familiar theme of hope-filled expectation beckons once again as we await and are drawn ever more deeply into the mystery of what is already and always – Emmanuel, God with us. Prophets foretell what Jesus incarnates – the reign of God is at hand. Even amidst brokenness, tragedy, and pain, the Sacred permeates all that is. In quiet stillness we listen with receptive hearts for the gracious promptings of the Spirit…how to fashion a world where justice and righteousness prevail over the destructive energy of violence, oppression, petty exclusion, and rigid barriers. In stillness that quells upheaval we await the breakthrough of the Divine! Jesus reveals the mystery of God’s transformative presence, the immensity of Divine love. May we be awakened anew to the Divine alive in us and all creation. May we increase and abound in love for one another and all people. May we be drawn more deeply this Advent season into the mystery of Love Incarnate that inspires renewed awe, wonder, and gratitude.
