REFLECTION

“Rejoice in God always! I say it again: Rejoice! Let everyone see your forbearing spirit. Our Savior is near. ” Phil. 4:4

Today’s readings explicitly highlights the word “rejoice” with a special invitation to ponder over why and how important it is to rejoice. Joyful singing amidst the inevitable losses and pains of life can be a great challenge. However, St. John the Baptist courageously tells us how we can rejoice in our lives, only if we listen to the voice of our heart.

The Prophet Zephaniah convincingly urges the people of Zion and all of us today to Sing and Shout with joy for the very reason that Yahweh God is near. It’s a time of joyful singing to the one we love the most by following a conscious way of living, so that God will rejoice over us with joyful songs. What a great vision of God!
