A song of gratitude
Amidst family, friends and SCNs, we, Sisters Angela, Emilia, Helen, Maria, Paska, Reshma, Sonali, Sushila and Swarupa committed ourselves to God which really give us a sense of pride and belongingness to the SCN family.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude to God and the Community for this “Day of our Life”. During the last 7 long years of preparation, we longed to see the light of this day.
At dawn, we began the day with a prayer. The Vow Mass was simple and very meaningful with melodious music. The colorful entrance dance by the First Year novices added vibrancy to the celebration.
Fr. Alwyn D’Souza, S. Mokama Parish Priest presided over the Mass with seven other priests. Father D’Souza challenged us to be the salt that adds taste to the life of the poor and to be light where people still grope in darkness.
We professed our Vows into the hands of Sister Sangeeta Ayithamattam, Provincial, delegate of the President. She also gave us the SCN ring in a meaningful ritual. Sister Basanti Lakra presented us with SCN medal.
During offertory, we offered Suniel, a two year old boy, whom we had the privilege of rescuing and caring for during our mission experience at Chetnabharati, Chatra. His grin and the light in his eyes made our commitment worthwhile.
With songs and dances, we were processed into the dining hall, where the kitchen crew headed by Sister Mercy Thundathil, Philo Kottoor had laid out a delicious meal for us.
Most of our family members came to be with us and experienced the pride with tears of joy as they offered us to God and God’s people.
Sister Sangeeta announced our new mission and we are excited to reach the place after our juniorate program followed by visit home.
We feel gratitude to our God, family and Community for making this day possible for us. We are taking in all the loving attention we received today. We are hope filled for a beautiful life ahead in the service of God in humanity.
