Dear SCN Family and Volunteers,

As you are all aware, much of our state has been hit hard from the winter storms and most recently major flooding. Many areas of Eastern Kentucky were without power for two weeks due to the snow and ice, then 8 inches of rain fell in one night on February 28. The image above is of Beattyville, KY on March 1. We have been in touch with Miss Dora at Kentucky Cornerstone, with whom we have a longstanding relationship and continue to take volunteer teams to assist in her ministry there. Much assistance will be needed in the days and months to come.

Beginning immediately, we will be accepting donations and cleaning supplies in response to the devastation in Beattyville and Lee County. To drop off donated supplies (buckets, cleaner, mops, plastic gloves, sheets, blankets, etc.) no later than March 15 contact Amy Ulrich at 502-507-8100. Monetary donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 9, C/O Beattyville Disaster Response, Nazareth, KY 40048 or donate online at If donating online, please designate Disaster Relief – Beattyville.

For trained disaster relief volunteers interested in assisting at a later date with rebuilding, information will be emailed to you when the dates are secured. Or, those trained, may email Amy at [email protected] to get on the availability list.

Please continue to keep all the families affected by this destruction, as well as the many early responders in your continued prayers.

With Sincere Gratitude,
Lay Mission Volunteer Program
