NAZARETH 5K

On June 1, 2019 – Run with a Mission

Join the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth for this first-ever 5K run/walk on the Motherhouse grounds of Nazareth, Kentucky.

Nazareth 5K – Run with a Mission is an event to support the ministries of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in the United States, India, Nepal, Belize and Botswana. As you run/walk past photos along the race course, visit the Mission booth and learn about volunteer opportunities, please know that your participation in this race supports the Sisters as they work to address pressing needs in our world.

We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, June 1st. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Registration: Will open at 7:00 a.m. and we hope to close registration at 7:45 a.m.

Parking: Once you arrive on the Nazareth campus, follow the main road to the heart of campus, where you will be directed to park in our large field. Please note that the back entrance to Nazareth from KY 332 will be closed, so you’ll enter from the main entrance on Hwy 31-E.

Registration/Check-in: The registration/check-in table will be in the O’Connell Parking lot, where you will sign in, pick up your timing chip, bib and t-shirt. Look for the flagpole and signs pointing you to this location.

The course: Part of the 3.1 mile course is off-road, through a field past Nazareth’s lovely lakes. Baby strollers will need all-terrain wheels to navigate the course.

Rain or shine: The race will be held rain or shine. Heavy storms or thunder/lightning will result in a race delay until the weather clears. If rain causes the off-road portion to be unsafe, the course will be altered accordingly.

Awards ceremony: The awards ceremony will begin approximately 1.5 hours after the race begins. Awards will be presented for the Overall Top Male and Top Female finisher, and the top two male and female finishers in each age category.

Refreshments: We will have a water station at the half-way mark and at the finish line. Bananas (compliments of Sav-a-lot) and donuts (compliments of Home Cut Donuts) will be available at the finish line. Ben’s Jammin Ice Cream truck will be selling ice cream, old-fashioned soft drinks and Gatorade.

Super Raffle: tickets will be available for sale for $25 for a chance to win $20,000, $5,000 or $1,000. All proceeds from the raffle support the SCN Missions.

Help keep our grounds beautiful: The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s mission includes a commitment to care for Earth. You will notice that we have carefully chosen to use materials that are compostable, recyclable or re-usable throughout the race. Please help us keep the Nazareth grounds beautiful by using the recycling and trash receptacles that will be available throughout the campus.

Most of all, we look forward to welcoming you to Nazareth. See you on June 1.

Thank you to our sponsors

It’s not easy to run a 5K when you’re fighting back tears. This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done. The Sisters came out and held signs, waved pom poms, and rang bells to support all the runners/walkers. I thought about how much the Sisters have given to me over my life and the gratitude I felt was overwhelming. There couldn’t be a more beautiful place for a 5K. What a great event!

We had a very good time at your 5K this past weekend. You have a beautiful place there and we see that you are really helping people who need it. Hopefully, this small donation will be helpful to help others that are less fortunate than we are. God bless you all and thank you.
