Asha Niwas

Near Delhi, India, the SCNs have a home for children whose mothers are caught in the cycle of prostitution. Over fifty children are cared for through this ministry called "Asha Niwas," which means "House of Hope."Asha Niwas provides a home, education and nurturing care to children of women who are caught in the commercial sex trade. These children have lived their early years in brothels with their mothers, and without intervention would most likely fall into the same way of life. Asha Niwas attempts to break this cycle by offering the children a safe environment, an opportunity for learning and a chance to believe in their own worth and dignity.
For $20 per month, you can sponsor a child at Asha Niwas and insure that this child is given an opportunity to realize her full potential in life.
One donor shared with us:
When I heard about all that these children have experienced and witnessed in their short lives, I knew that I wanted to do something. I became a sponsor for a child - Kavita. She's in the 6th grade and I hear that she's very smart and doing well. I have her picture on the refrigerator in my kitchen, along with photos and notes from other people who are important in my life. At Christmas, I received a note from her. I've never met her, and she's never met me. But, I know that in a small way I'm making a difference in her life. She knows that someone on the other side of the world cares about her. Most importantly, I'm helping to give her hope ... and a chance for a better life.
Rajgir

In the village of Rajgir, India, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth minister to children who have been affected by polio. Polio has been eradicated in much of the world. However, several years ago a polio epidemic occurred in the villages surrounding Rajgir. The Sisters provide housing, proper nutrition, medical and rehabilitation care, and an education to children who have been affected by polio here. Many of these children are very limited in their mobility because their limbs have been affected so severely. The goal is for these children to learn skills and gain self-confidence so that they can live their lives with dignity and a feeling of self-worth. Ninety-one children currently receive care at this ministry.
